The MXR Wylde Audio Chorus WA38 is a collaboration between MXR and guitarist Zakk Wylde that offers a timeless analog phaser sound. Celebrating two decades of partnership between Dunlop and Zakk Wylde, the MXR Wylde Audio Chorus embodies a part of Zakk's signature style, working together with other collaborative pedals including the Wylde Audio Overdrive and Wylde Audio Phaser to allow guitarists to experience the same tonal spectrum as one of the most iconic guitarists in history.
Bucket-brigade circuitry lives inside this unique pedal, a hallmark of vintage analog tone reproduction. This circuitry is the cornerstone for achieving lush modulation effects, from small nuances to huge, sweeping chorus.
A very simple interface includes a master bypass footswitch for toggling the effect on and off, accompanied by a blue LED indicator for easy visibility on stage. The THRU OUTPUT jack enables stereo output, allowing for a broader spatial spectrum when connecting two amps simultaneously.
More nuanced controls allow for a fine-tuning of this phaser, including a LEVEL knob, adjusting the overall effect volume to seamlessly integrate with their playing dynamics. LOW and HIGH knobs also provide granular control over the frequency spectrum, allowing users to find a balance of warmth and clarity. Meanwhile, DEPTH and RATE knobs govern the intensity and speed of the chorus effect.
This pedal offers an input impedance of 1 MΩ and an output impedance of 1 kΩ, and ensures optimal signal integrity and minimal noise interference. The buffered bypass maintains signal clarity when the effect is disengaged, while the low noise floor of -96 dBV (effect on) and -106 dBV (bypass) guarantees a pristine audio signal free from unwanted artifacts.
Powering the MXR Wylde Audio Chorus is a straightforward endeavor, thanks to its compatibility with a single 9-volt battery, a 9-volt AC adapter such as the Dunlop ECB003, or an MXR Brick Series power supply.
