Martin Custom Shop Super D
The Super D traces back its origins to a not-so-regular day at the Martin office when a discussion on Black Sabbath’s Supernaut song led to the idea of Martin as a ‘Super Dreadnought company’. Countering the everyday parlor guitars, Martin chose to go big or go home, and created the biggest dreadnought guitar model.
What emerged from the ideas is a powerful and imposing acoustic guitar designed for the modern player seeking a bold sound. The Martin Super D Guitar brings an impressive increase in internal air volume, with around 20% more space compared to a standard Martin Dreadnought guitar. While traditional Dreadnoughts typically have an internal air volume of approximately 1,000 cubic inches, the new Super D surpasses this with over 1,200 cubic inches of internal space. With its super jumbo body size, it projects an incredibly deep and resonant tone. Crafted with premium tonewoods, featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and Guatemalan Rosewood and High Flame Koa back and sides, the Martin Custom Super D guitars offer rich, booming bass notes, articulate mids, and clear trebles.
