The OP-1 Wondersynth is one of the most important musical instrument advancements since its inception in 2011. Whether you are using it to make hit records or view-count-smashing YouTube vids, or maybe just passing the hours on transcontinental flights, OP-1 has become a staple in music creation.
That said, there has been a nasty rumor circulating lately about the discontinuation of the OP-1. While it is true that there has been a pause in production, Teenage Engineering assures us that the OP-1 will be back in production as soon as possible.
The official word from TE:
Last week a rumour circulated that the OP-1 was dead. No one was more surprised than us. However we’ve been working hard on updating the hardware platform in order to keep the product alive for many years to come. This is causing a brief stop in production, but we will be up and running at full speed shortly.
Prices are skyrocketing for used OP-1's in the wake of the supply/demand issue. Teenage Engineering and Russo Music highly recommend you watch your wallet and don’t pay used car money on the internet for a product that is coming back into production as soon as possible. While no timeline has been delivered, you don’t want to wake up guilt-stricken after spending $8k on a synth when it comes around new again for around $999. Do you?
Leave your email here for TE updates and we will let you know when we hear something about OP-1 and when our next batch of OP-Z lands at our doorstep.
Submission Received! We will reach out when more OP-1's arrive.
