The guitars are inspired by depression-era flattops and admired designs from the mid-century, with a keen emphasis on producing a vintage-inspired tone that appeals to the modern musician.
Thoughtful Material Selection
Tonewood selection is central to Iris Guitar’s philosophy. With a grounding in traditional mahogany and rosewood, Iris is not afraid to experiment. Optional tonewoods include Big Leaf Maple, Figured Cherry, old stock and figured Mahogany, Walnut and more. Top woods include reclaimed redwood, Euro Spruce, Adi Spruce both torrefied and not, and many more. The careful selection and combination of materials ensure each guitar’s resonance and depth of tone. Furthermore, the finishing process of an Iris guitar is art in itself; it maintains the simplicity and aesthetic elegance of the yesteryear instruments that inspire the line.
